This story comes without pictures. But nonetheless, in real life, no pictures could do this day justice.
My friends and I loved coming up with crazy things to do: we all dressed up to dance in front of audiences, we came up with plays, we spent hours setting up a city at the playground, we loved playing school, and most of all, we loved how much fun we had together.
This particular day the older kids decided we should film the Exorcist. And of course, I was the child: Reagan, I believe. It was hilarious. We had all the scenes written down, we recorded the music in my friend’s tape recorder and took with us. I had half of my face painted to be the kid, and half of my face was the possessed child.
I know it’s supposed to be a scary movie, but it truly was hilarious to film it and watch it. I remember at one point I sat on the ledge for one of the scenes (I don’t remember which one), but my parents saw me and freaked out. I was sent home and lectured and I’m pretty sure if they hadn’t seen some of the outcome of the video I would’ve been grounded for sure. Granted, we were on the 4th floor of an apartment complex with no bars around me, but you know, fearless. Anything for a good take, right?
I had to promise not to sit on that ledge ever again, which of course I broke at one point.. Kids..
This has to be the funniest memory I have to this day. I wish we still had that video, but having it just in my mind (well, ours) makes it that much more special.
Here is the group dressed as Chiquititas – which was a HUGE soap opera in Brazil while we were growing up. Because, you know, you need proof that we did, in fact, dress up to perform.
(I’m the first one standing, from the right. With that fabulous pose). We went into SO many arguments about who was who. Hilarious, I tell ya.
