Half full, always

I’ve toyed with the idea of sharing our Christmas décor sooner, but right now my house is covered with flooring, padding and wooden trims.

Yup. We are about to redo our floors, and to top it off there were signs of termite, so our terminator pulled some of the trim around our french doors and they found a new home in the middle of the tv room.

It’s a dream come true.

But now that the time is coming to take my decor down I refused to let it go before documenting it.

That’s called a glass half full..

And it wasn’t that full at the end of 2014. So I’m thinking there was some improvement done, right?

Here are some snipets of our home, decorated for the most wonderful time of the year.

I loved how I was able to use some of my art to decorate our house. It warms my heart when I see all the decor out and I see how much love went into creating all of these pieces.

I can’t wait to get into all the renovating downstairs, and to see the final piece. Let’s hope I can say I stayed Half-full minded throughout the process..

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is an amazing time. Getting together with family, watching football, cooking together, smelling the pumpkin pie as it bakes away in the oven.. but that’s not all.

Today is a day reserved for taking a long look and give thanks for all you have. I’m thankful for so much it would take me a long time to write it all down. So here’s the short version:

I give thanks for the food I have, the roof over my head, a healthy and close knit family, and for dear friends. I give you thanks for the love I get to experience in my life, and for the blessings that are bestowed upon me and my loved ones.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all. Have a blessed day!

Each Lovely Thing

Sorry about the cobwebs, and quietness around these parts.

There have been some great things in motion that I’m super excited to share with you. As of the past week, each lovely thing became it’s own thing.

It’s no longer just my personal blog. I’ve prayed, studied and thought over and over about where I wanted this brand to go. About what I really wanted to do with my life. It started as a thought, it became reality when I created this blog, and after so much encouragement, thought, time, and love, I’m so very happy and proud to show off the fruits of our labor.

Yes, our. This place was built initially by me, but without my husband’s, family and friend’s contribution this would not truly have happened. You guys are amazing, each and every single one of you.

B.R.A. Day

We all should know by now that October is Breast Cancer awareness month. A month to reflect on checking yourself, on educating yourself, and offering support for those who are fighting this battle.

As of the last 3 months, I’ve experienced Breast cancer on a daily basis. Not on myself, but through the dozens of patients we see every day at my office.

Patients that are so kind, so thoughtful, such warm human beings you can’t help but feel proud and respectful of them. In order to celebrate them, their life, and to welcome them to the office aside from their visits, the office held a B.R.A. day last night.

Breast Reconstruction Awareness day is celebrated throughout the month, and the main goal is to educate patients, showcase vendors that work towards making that journey as easy as possible, and to connect patients that have just started on this road with patients that have thankfully crossed that threshold.

We had the GoPinkDC Paddle team, whose cancer survivors and supporters team travels across the US participating in events, connecting with other survivors, and instilling a sense of camaraderie while exercising and promoting a healthier life style.

We had lovely vendors to help through the bra fitting process post mastectomy, stella & dot, and Vickie Vo, who promotes Yoga classes for breast cancer patients. It’s an amazing place to connect while their physical activity is still restricted, as well as after.

To celebrate these lovely ladies, my friend from work convinced me to do some of my signs for the event, and I can’t thank her enough.

It’s hard to expose myself to people I know and see on a daily basis. It opens too many doors for criticism, and I’m always scared of it. Of how it will make me feel.

Well, the response was super positive! I was so very happy to be able to participate on such an event. I wish I took better pictures of the items, but I will definitely take better ones this week. For now, hope you guys are content with the ones I took at the event.

Hope fight like a girl

They mean a lot to me, but they hold a lot more meaning to those fighting, to those who won that battle. It was on that spirit that one survivor approached me and got super teary eyed looking at the sign. She said it spoke to her.

And just like that, my survivor plate found a new home. It was a gift, one that left me feeling great for designing something that spoke strongly to my audience. I could see how much she was touched by that saying, how much meaning it held to her. The memories and the power she felt emanating from it.

This is why I love art. This is what I do this for.

It made me want to create amazing things for these amazing women, to make them feel better, somehow.

This job is a blessing. It allows me to connect with beautiful souls, and I’m thankful for that. And so very happy that my art got such a positive results from fierce women like these.

happy 1st anniversary.. again?

Well, this is weird. Having 2 wedding dates. It can be a confusing task, I’ll tell you. Keeping track of how we are, today, celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary, while actually approaching our 2nd one.

You may be thinking I’m crazy, but here it goes.

Our wedding was in May, when we signed papers and vowed to spend the rest of our lives making the other happy. It was quick, with just family. Fast forward to the following January, and the wedding party for our dear extended family + friends took place.

So this is why, today, I need to do a quick recap.

I love you. I love that we have 2 dates to look back on to celebrate. I love you as a man, as a husband, as a professional. I can’t wait to see you as a dad when the time comes. I love how you hold me, make me feel loved and desired. I love how silly we can be, how comfortable and warm life is with you.

Thank you, for being my shoulder to cry on, my comedian when I’m down, my encourager when I’m lazy, my loving husband and friend each and every single day. This day is when we stood in front of our dearest and shared our promise. So it will always have its space in my heart.

Happy Anniversary(*), love.

liebster award

or should I call it “my tiny blog actually means something to someone?!”

On any way, shape or form, each lovely thing was nominated to a Liebster Award by one of the first bloggers I started following since joining this world: Tozanita.

If you, like me, is new to this, you may not even have heard about it. The Liebster Award is a chain blog award passed around the blogging community as a sweet, simple and encouraging way of getting to know other bloggers and celebrating their work.

The best part about it is that the award is given to blogs with 500 or less followers, which encourages their readership to grow, and connects them with at least 10 other blogs. How great is that?

The rules are:

  • Thank the blogger who gave it to you.
  • Answer the 11 questions they ask you.
  • Nominate 11 bloggers with less than 500 followers.
  • Ask those 11 bloggers 11 questions.
  • Let those bloggers know they’ve been nominated so they can continue the chain!

So, let’s jump right in!
